Evenflo Launches “Safety Made Easier” Web Site To Help Educate Moms on Car Seat Safety
MIAMISBURG, OH (May 28, 2008) – Furthering its commitment to making safety easier for moms, Evenflo has launched the “Safety Made Easier” Web site (www.evenflo.com/safetymadeeasier) to provide a wide-range of educational resources for moms on important topics pertaining to child safety and car seat ease of installation. The site is available in both English and Spanish.
The “Safety Made Easier” site aims to simplify and facilitate the car seat installation process with instructional videos that take moms step-by-step through installation. There is also a dedicated section on LATCH, which stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. The LATCH system is designed to make proper installation of car seats easier and provides an alternative for seatbelts to secure the car seat. All cars manufactured after September 1, 2002 come standard with LATCH (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/rulings/UCRA-OMB-J08/FinalRule.html). According to Safe Kids Worldwide, many child car seats today are improperly used to some extent, putting children in potentially dangerous situations.
The site also sheds light on the importance of understanding side-impact safety. Approximately 25 percent of all vehicle crashes have a side-impact component. All Evenflo infant car seats are currently side-impact tested. The Evenflo Side Impact test protocol was developed by Evenflo engineers using state-of-the-art facilities. Plans are now underway for the entire line of Evenflo car seats to be side-impact tested by summer of 2008.
“Evenflo maintains a strong commitment to safety in its products,” said Rob Matteucci, CEO of Evenflo Company, Inc. “Through the ‘Safety Made Easier’ site we are able to provide moms the necessary resources to make safety easier and keep all children secure and happy on the road.”
The Web site also contains information on topics such as choosing a car seat, product recalls and government regulations to keep moms up-to-date and informed with the most current information. This includes a booster legislation map which outlines the current booster seat laws in each state. Parents can click on a state to learn more details about the current law.
The “Safety Made Easier” Web site is a part of Evenflo’s “Safety Made Easier” campaign that focuses on two important initiatives: new product innovations and parent education to facilitate proper car seat installation and use. Launched in 2007, the campaign’s goal is to support parents in optimizing child safety. Last year Evenflo launched a “Safety Made Easier” Web site specifically for the child passenger safety community that furthers the company’s dedication to education and protecting children in vehicles.
