Convertible Car Seats

What is the weight of the car seat?

The following product weight is an estimate and may vary slightly depending on the specific fashion and trim of your car seat: 15.2 lb

Where is the date and model label?

You can find the date of manufacture, model name and model number on a label found on the back of the car seat.

I live in Canada. Can I buy a car seat from the US and use it in Canada?

Car seats and booster seats sold in the US may not comply with all Canadian regulatory requirements and, for that reason, may not have the required Maple Leaf label. You should always purchase a car seat that is compliant to the standards of the country in which you live. If you live in Canada, you must use a car seat or booster seat that is compliant to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and has the Maple Leaf label.

My Evenflo car seat instruction manual states that the tether is required, but I do not have a tether anchor available in my vehicle. Can I still use my Evenflo car seat?

If you are in the United States, you may still use your Evenflo car seat without the tether if you do not have an anchor available in your vehicle. The tether is an important safety feature on all Evenflo forward-facing harnessed car seats (and additionally in rear-facing mode on the Evenflo Revolve360 car seat line). All Evenflo car seats must pass the federal crash test procedure with and without the use of the tether. While we encourage the use of the tether, it is acceptable to install your car seat without the use of this feature if you do not have a tether anchor available to use in your vehicle. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for the location of the tether anchors in your vehicle. Older vehicles may not come equipped with tether anchor hardware. Check with your vehicle dealer. Do not use the tether if you do not have a tether anchor in your vehicle.

If you are in Canada, tether use is mandatory as part of Canadian law. All consumers must use the tether for forward-facing car seat installations.

Does this car seat fit taller kids?

This car seat was designed with a wide range of children in mind, from infants through big kids. Full product details are provided in the product instructions. [insert link to instructions]

How long can my child stay rear-facing?

This car seat can be used in rear-facing mode until the child reaches either 40 lbs (18 kg), 37 inches (94 cm), or the top of their head is less than 1 inch (2.5 cm) below the top of the car seat. Once your child reaches any of these three measurements the car seat has been outgrown in rear-facing mode.

Where is the user guide stored in this car seat?

The user guide for this car seat can be stored with the plastic lanyard on either side of the car seat at the top of the side wings. It is a good idea to keep your user guide with your car seat at all times so you can refer back to this information as needed. Additionally, you may find an electronic copy of your user guide on our website at www.evenflo.com.

Can I install this car seat in the center seat of my vehicle?

Yes, this car seat can be used in any forward-facing vehicle seating position allowed in your vehicle's owner's manual, as long as a tight installation can be achieved. Therefore, the center seating position may be an option. However, in some vehicles the center seating position may be narrower which could make it more difficult to tightly install your car seat. In many vehicles, the center seating position may not allow installation with lower anchors. It is important to refer to both your vehicle owner's manual and your car seat user guide for full installation details.

How do you clean the plastic components of the car seat or base?

Plastic components may be wiped clean with warm water and mild soap. Take care not to soak the product use labels.

What is the lifespan of this car seat?

This car seat has a 6 year expiration from the date of manufacture. The specific expiration date is listed on the date and model label on the product. Safety standards change over time as restraint technology develops. Expiration dates help ensure that old products are eventually removed from circulation, so all children can benefit from improvements.

Up to what weight can you use LATCH?

LATCH/UAS can be used at all times in rear-facing mode and up to 50 lb/22.6 kg in forward-facing mode.

When I install my Evenflo car seat in my vehicle, some of the car seat bottom hangs off the front edge of the vehicle seat. Is that allowed?

When installed in rear-facing mode, this car seat requires the entire bottom of the car seat to be supported by the vehicle seat. In forward-facing mode, the majority of the bottom of the car seat (80%) should be supported by the vehicle seat.

Where do I check to make sure I have a tight install?

Firmly grip the car seat near the belt path opening, which is where you have it installed. Try to move the car seat side to side and front to back. The car seat should not move more than one inch (2.5 cm). If it moves more than one inch at the belt path, try your installation again. If it still moves more than one inch you may need to change seating positions in your vehicle or try a different installation method.

How do I know if my car seat is tightly installed?

When checking for a tight installation, it is important to test the car seat right where you have it installed to the vehicle. For a rear-facing car seat, that means you will grab the car seat near your child's feet and not near their head. While holding the car seat at the belt path, try to move the car seat side to side and front to back. The car seat should not move more than one inch (2.5 cm) in any direction. If the car seat moves more than one inch when checking at the belt path, you have a few options: 1) try to tighten the installation again; 2) try a different seating position in the vehicle; 3) try a different installation method, if possible; 4) contact our ParentLink Consumer Care team for assistance: www.evenflo.com/contactus.

Can I use a car seat mat to protect my vehicle seat?

Evenflo allows the use of the Evenflo car seat accessory mat underneath this car seat in all installation modes. You can also place a towel beneath and behind the car seat to help protect your vehicle upholstery.

What standards does this car seat meet?

This car seat meets or exceeds all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS).

Is it okay if my rear-facing convertible car seat touches the back of the vehicle seat in front of it?

Evenflo permits contact between front vehicle seats and its rear-facing convertible or all-in-one car seats. However, the car seat should not be wedged in and should be installed in accordance with both the car seat instructions and the vehicle owner's manual. Unlike its convertible seats, however, Evenflo does require 1.5 inches of clearance between a front vehicle seat and any of its rear-facing only infant car seats.

It is hard to see the rear-facing recline line on my convertible car seat. Is there anything I can do to make it easier to view?

Some recline lines are molded into the car seat shell. On those models, you can rub white chalk or a white permanent marker (ex: china marker) on the line to help it stand out from the surrounding shell of the car seat.

I lost the user guide that came with my Evenflo car seat. Can I find one online?

You may find electronic copies of all user guides for Evenflo car seats and booster seats on our website at www.evenflo.com.

Are the harness covers required?

No. For your child's comfort this car seat does include harness covers, but they are removable - for easy cleaning or to discontinue use.

Can you wash the seat pad? If so, how?

Evenflo allows the use of 70% isopropyl alcohol to disinfect car seat and booster seat surfaces, including the fabric, harness, buckle, plastic parts, foam and labels. You may spray or wipe the 70% isopropyl alcohol to dampen, but not soak, the surfaces. Afterwards, be sure to let the surfaces air dry. This guidance applies to all Evenflo car seats and booster seats. But keep in mind - this guidance does not apply to vehicle surfaces, like the seat belt. Please consult your vehicle manufacturer for guidance on disinfecting or cleaning vehicle surfaces.

Can I install my car seat next to a side curtain air bag?

Generally, car seats and booster seats can be safely installed in rear-seating positions next to side curtain air bags. It is important to consult your vehicle owner's manual to ensure there are no restrictions in the seating position that you want to use for your car seat installation. In addition to your vehicle owner's manual, your car seat instructions will include detailed information about any air bag interaction concerns.

Will I be able to fit three car seats in my back seat with this car seat?

There are many combinations of vehicle makes, models, car seat configurations, vehicle seat belt designs and seat cushion shapes. The easiest way to determine whether your car seat is suitable for a particular seating position is to check for a tight installation, especially when trying to fit multiple passengers in the back seat of your vehicle. The following conditions should be met when installing three car seats next to each other:

• Each car seat must achieve a correct and tight installation.

• The positions of the car seat on the vehicle seat are not changed by contact. Each car seat still aligns properly with respect to the seat belt or lower anchors that secure them and do not overlap the adjacent car seat.

• If the vehicle seat is adjustable front-to-back, both portions of the vehicle seat must be adjusted to the same position.

• Only one lower anchor connector is connected to a single lower anchor point.

• There is no contact or force that would bend or deform any of the car seats.

• The lower anchor belt or seat belt used to install each car seat does not rub on each other or crossover in a way that they interfere with each other.

Does this car seat have a steel frame?

No, this car seat does not have an anti-rebound bar. This car seat meets or exceeds all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards and Evenflo's internal testing standards. This car seat is engineered to manage crash energy appropriately without the addition of an anti-rebound bar.

Can you wash the seat pad? If so, how?

Yes! For your convenience, the soft goods on this car seat are washable. Machine wash separately in cold water on delicate cycle. Do not use chlorine bleach. Tumble dry on low heat for 10 – 15 minutes. Do not iron or dry clean. See product instructions for full cleaning details.

How is this car seat tested?

At Evenflo, we go above and beyond government standards to create car seats that are safe. This car seat meets or exceeds all applicable federal safety standards. It is structural integrity tested at energy levels approximately 2x the federal frontal crash test standard, additionally it is side-impact tested, rollover tested and temperature tested.

My child's head falls forward in their forward-facing car seat, especially when they sleep. What can I do?

First, consider whether your child should be moved back to a rear-facing car seat, which often provides additional recline and may help prevent your child's head from falling forward. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children remain rear-facing until they meet the upper height and weight limits of their rear-facing car seat. Next, if you decide to keep your child forward-facing - check to see if their car seat offers a recline option, which may help keep your child's head resting on the restraint. Many forward-facing car seats offer a mechanism to provide a semi-recline for installation. Be sure to check your instruction manual for weight restrictions and proper use of this car seat feature. Finally, if allowed by the vehicle manufacturer, the vehicle seat can be slightly reclined when installing the car seat. Reclining the vehicle seat may also help keep your child's head resting on the restraint. The installation instructions of both the vehicle and car seat manufacturer must be followed and you must be able to achieve a secure and correct installation.

When I position my infant in her rear-facing car seat, there is a gap between her bottom and the buckle. Is there anything I can do to improve her positioning?

Many Evenflo car seats come with positioning inserts, which should be used per the instructions in your car seat manual. Using the insert that came with your car seat, if available, may help eliminate the gap between your child and the buckle in rear-facing mode.

If the positioning insert does not eliminate the gap, or if your car seat did not come with an optional positioning insert, you may use a small wash cloth to help fill in this gap with Evenflo rear-facing car seats. To use: place your child in the car seat, buckle and tighten the harness so that you cannot pinch any webbing when testing at the child's shoulders. Once tightened, slide the wash cloth in the gap between your child and the buckle.

If needed, you may also use tightly rolled receiving blankets placed next to your child to center them in the car seat. The positioning blankets should never be placed under the child or between the child and the harness. Additionally, the blankets should be positioned at or below the child's shoulder level and away from their mouth, face or neck.

Does this car seat come with a seat protector pad?

No, but you can also place a towel beneath and behind the car seat to help protect your vehicle upholstery.

Does this car seat have a steel frame?

This car seat meets or exceeds all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards and Evenflo's internal testing standards. This product does not have a steel frame, but is made of robust plastic sufficient to withstand numerous dynamic tests. This car seat is engineered to manage crash energy appropriately without the addition of a steel reinforced frame. This allows the car seat to be lightweight, making it easier to move between vehicles.

Is this car seat latex-free?

Yes. All Evenflo car seats are latex-free.

Does Evenflo have harness covers available for car seats?

This car seat is not typically sold with harness covers, but an approved option may be available for purchase. Contact ParentLink Consumer Care for details: https://www.evenflo.com/pages/contact-us. Only those harness covers provided by Evenflo should be used with your Evenflo car seat.

If car seats are required by government regulation to be flame-retardant, how does Evenflo make sure it meets the government standard?

Flammability testing of car seats is required under the FMVSS 302, Flammability of Interior Materials Standard. The test measures the rate of flame spread with the goal of maximizing the amount of time a caregiver would have to remove an occupant from the car seat in the event of a vehicle fire. Evenflo's car seats are tested by an accredited independent testing laboratory and meet the FMVSS 302 standard. In addition, Evenflo car seats are tested for toxicity to meet or exceed the regulations of various state and federal child products banned substances laws and regulations.

Is this car seat JPMA Certified?

The Juvenile Product Manufacturer's Association (JPMA) does not certify car seats.

Where can I find the installation video?

You can find installation and how-to videos outlining correct use of this car seat on our YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/@evenflobaby

If I have both this car seat and a second car seat, will there be enough room to fit in a third passenger in my backseat?

There are many combinations of vehicle makes, models, car seat configurations, vehicle seat belt designs and seat cushion shapes. The easiest way to determine whether your car seat is suitable for a particular seating position is to check for a tight installation, especially when trying to fit multiple passengers in the back seat of your vehicle. Unfortunately, some smaller sedans and SUVs have rear seat belt systems that overlap, which makes it very difficult to fit three passengers in the rear seat.

How comfortable are the fabrics for my child?

This product is designed with premium, soft fabrics that have a smooth finish for easy spot cleaning. Your child will love the plush feel.

Does this car seat fit into a travel bag?

Yes, it fits in the Evenflo Universal Fit Car Seat Travel Bag & Storage Bag.

How easy is it to remove the seat pad to wash?

Really simple. The seat pad is designed to be easy-to-remove and toss in the wash (just be sure to wash separately, delicate cycle, with mild detergent). [add link to removing seat pad video if available]

Can I use a pool noodle or towel if I need more recline?

Yes, in certain situations. This car seat has 2 recline positions for rear-facing installations. There is a level line on the side of the car seat which must be level to the ground. You may tightly roll a towel or use a section of pool noodle underneath the car seat near the vehicle seat back to increase the recline angle, if necessary. You may NOT use a rolled towel or pool noodle to change the recline in forward-facing mode.
